Welcome to my food journal!
I'm Kat and I created this journal to chronicle my experiments & experiences with food, specifically raw veganism - a way of life i discovered amongst my research into things that might help me recover from Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome.
I've been pescatarian since 97 and became a strict vegetarian in 98 or 99 (many would call me vegan, but i do not often claim that title these days although i'm actually stricter than ever! 'cos I'm close but no cigar - like those fish eating 'vegetarians'). I went veg*n for animal rights reasons with the environmental and health benefits as nice bonuses ^.^. I first read about the raw food movement in 2006, but didn't start to experiment with the diet until 2008.
To explain the name; I have always loved vampires, yet i have sometimes wondered what i would do if i were turned into one - thankfully i've discovered raw veganism and plant blood ;D. As Hemoglobin is the protein in our red blood cells which binds with oxygen and gives blood its bright red color. Chlorophyll cells are nearly identical to hemoglobin, with one exception: Chlorophyll has a magnesium molecule at its center while hemoglobin has an iron molecule at the center of it.* so if i ever get bit i'll just need to add an iron supplement and i'll be set ;).
Anyway, fellow vegans, raw foodist omnis, raw vegans, people with cfids/autoimmune/other health conditions, whatever, whoever, you're all welcome to add and read and share the journey with me.
